Starguard Lifeguard Certification Class

Certification includes:

Starguard Lifeguard Certification, Basic First Aid, & Basic Life Support (CPR/AED) Cerfication

Pre-Requisites:

• Participants must be able to complete swim test (see below for details)

• Participants must complete & pass online blended training at least 48 hours prior to class start.

• Participants must attend all days of training in their entirety**

• Participants must be 15 yr + by end of training date

**Previous & Current Employees in good standing, with a current, or less than 1 month expired Starguard Certification may be exempt from completing Days 1&2 only. Online training is required, and Day 3 is mandatory. Participants must pass all CAP Assessments & Written test. Please contact Amanda for approval at Amanda.Costello@SwimChicagoSouthland.com

Class Times & Days:

• Friday, May 5th: 4pm-9:15pm

• Saturday, May 6th: 8am-4:15pm

• Sunday, May 7th: 8am-12:15pm (CAP Assessment & Written Exam)

Swim test:

• 50 yards approach stroke (freestyle/breaststroke, head above water)

• 50 yards approach stroke with rescue tube

• 10 pound Brick retrieval from 5ft end & swim brick 20 yards

• 2 min tread total: 1 min tread with hands + 1 min tread no hands.

What to Bring Both Days:

• Swim suit, towel, warm clothes

• water bottle, drinks/snacks, lunch

• note pad & pen for notes or laptop

*Previous & Current Employees in good standing, with a current, or less than 1 month expired Starguard Certification may be exempt from completing Day 1 (friday) and Day 2 (saturday). Online training is required, and Day 3 (sunday) is mandatory. Participants must pass all CAP Assessments & Written test.
